In the early 1990s Sanderson was commissioned to compose several commercial tracks for Sunflower Cablevision Channel 6, here are two takes used for a commercial for Checkers grocery store. This became known as “The Monkey theme”, since it was used for their weekly banana specials that used a guy in a gorilla suit in their ads. These wound up running for over 10 years playing daily during the Channel 6 programming schedule.

The 1980s Kansas City band The YardApes, an early LP album featuring a variety of tracks. The YardApes formed in 1981, when a bunch of high school buddies who had played around in a couple different bands all came together to make some noise. The Eberly Brothers, John E. and Doug E. performing live at the Wichita night club The Coyote Club, opening for Eugene Chadbourne (Eugene’s set isn’t included in this recording, but it’s available in the Demolition Kitchen Media collection) This is a jambox recording, probably made by Art Grieg, recorded from the back of the room which kind of adds a kind of demented revival feel to the set. The Eberly Brothers was a group in the mid to late 1980s that produced a series of strange,...

This is a kind of remastered version of the video, created in 2020 featuring an attempt to improve both the video and audio quality of the original piece. Since the original video was shot in 1991 on VHS tape, this is about the best reworking that I could pull off. I wanted to make a better version available on the web. The video piece concept that I dreamed up one day when I ran into Roger Miller (Mission of Burma & Alloy Orchestra) was in Lawrence, KS. He was in town with his then band...

One of the documentation pieces that we wanted to do with the Staging Shimomura exhibit, was to record a complete run through of the video piece recorded inside the installation. Because of the 2020 Covid-19 outbreak The Spencer Museum of Art was closed for most of the run of the exhibit Staging Shimomura. Since it would be difficult to record a video version that would look good, we decided to create a simulated version of the piece showing the complete video. This version was created in the...
